Made for everyday thinking

Useful by nature.
Private by design.

01

Open it and start talking

No terminal, model hunting or technical setup. Hearthvale arrives configured for everyday writing, planning, calculations and conversation.

02

Work naturally with documents

Attach PDFs, Word documents, presentations, code and images directly in chat. Extraction and OCR happen locally, and your original files stay where you put them.

03

Offline when you want it

Chats, documents and the model keep working without an internet connection. There is no mandatory account or subscription for the local assistant.

Privacy you can understand

Your work is not
our data.

Hearthvale’s AI model runs on your Mac. Your ordinary prompts, chats, attachments and document text stay on your device.

  • No developer telemetryNo behavioural analytics or advertising trackers in the app.
  • No cloud AI accountThe local assistant does not depend on an AI server.
  • Clear network boundariesOptional Search shows when an external service is contacted.

Security that stays understandable

Protected quietly.
Useful normally.

Hearthvale uses layered safeguards without turning everyday chat into a security dashboard. The important protections work in the background; external activity remains visible when it matters.

01

Local by default

The model, chats, documents and OCR are processed on your Mac. Offline mode makes no automatic search request.

02

Untrusted content stays untrusted

Web pages, documents and OCR text are treated as reference material—not instructions for Hearthvale to follow.

03

Safer page retrieval

External pages must use HTTPS. Private-network addresses, unsafe redirects, DNS rebinding and oversized downloads are blocked.

04

Bounded local replies

Memory, time and output limits prevent runaway generation, and a manual Stop control remains available at any time.

05

Protected activity visibility

Hearthvale shows when Search, an external page or the update service is contacted, without adding app telemetry.

06

Signed ownership and updates

Offline licences are signed, credentials use macOS Keychain, and future updates must pass cryptographic verification.

See the technical protections
  • Unsafe search requests are screened locally before networking.
  • The Search provider key stays on the relay—not inside the app.
  • Search sends a minimised query, filters and pseudonymous entitlement; never full chats or files.
  • Redirects are revalidated and article downloads have strict size and time limits.
  • Document extraction and OCR use bounded local processing and file limits.
  • Citation details may be stored locally with the conversation; retrieved article bodies are not retained.

The important questions

Plain answers.
No fine-print fog.

Does Hearthvale need the internet?

No. The local assistant, chats, documents, OCR and calculations work offline. Internet access is only needed for optional managed Search, downloads and updates.

What leaves my Mac?

In Offline mode, no search request is made. If you enable Hearthvale Search, only a minimised search query, relevant filters and a pseudonymous entitlement are sent. Full chats, documents, OCR text and local model prompts are not sent to the search relay.

Is Search required?

No. Hearthvale Search is an optional £4.99 monthly service with 500 completed searches per billing month. Cancelling it never disables the local app.

Which Macs will it support?

The first release is being prepared for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13.3 or later. Final compatibility will be confirmed before sales open.
